Paloaho School in Kuopio,Finland is a pioneer in teaching children with special needs, which means that teaching here requires using a wide range of methods and countinously developing the teaching. After exploring different kinds of schooling systems we came to the conclusion that from The UK we will certainly get new ideas and perspectives to our teaching. 2. At Woodlands School in London it is possible to get acquainted with various teaching methods. We are especially intrested in how the teachers develop children`s communication skills, motor skills, activities of daily life and ICT skills. At Trinity Field School Cardiff we can get to know Gesture Based Technology not forgetting the eye gaze access method. After returning home we will apply the methods at our own work. In addition to that, we will inform our partners in Finland of the results of this visit. 3.The participants are three special education teachers working on different grades at Paloaho School Kuopio. The teachers are highly experienced and innovative. They are willing to develop themselves and share new ideas with colleagues. 4.First we will visit London Woodland School. We will observe especially motor skills, communication, daily skills and ICT teaching. In Trinity Fields School Cardiff we will concentrate on Gesture Based Technology. 5. The aquired new information and the teaching practices of the schools visited are adapted and tested with our own pupils in order to enrich their learning. 6. The aim of this project is to increase pupils` activity, independency, creativity, cognitive skills so that they reach a more independent and equal role in the community they are living in. 7.The long-term objective is to enrich the education of children with special needs in our area and to disseminate new teaching methods in other parts of Finland, too.
