ÁGORA CULTURAL+ JUVENTUD 2015-2016
Start date: Jul 1, 2015, End date: Jul 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Through this project, it will be given the opportunity to 4 European young people from CYPRUS, GREECE, FRANCE and ITALY aged between 18 and 30 years to participate in a project of Youth Mobility, specifically Youth Volunteerism (European Voluntary Service). The participation of these volunteers will be into 2 local entities of the City of Manises belonging to the Municipality (City Hall of Manises), which both are targeted to children and young people with fewer opportunities, at risk of social exclusion. Both local entities share schedule and weekly planning as well as activity areas such as leisure, recreation, education, awareness, inclusion and support. Both tend to promote the rights of youth to be the protagonist of their needs and expectations. The division of the 4 volunteers will be as follows: + 2 volunteers at the Municipal Recreation Room "EN MARCHA" from 01/09/2015 to 30/04/2016 being 8 months of volunteer task + 2 volunteers at the Municipal Youth Center "SAN FRANCISCO" from 01/09/2015 to 30/04/2016 being 8 months of volunteer task The young candidates who will participate as EVS volunteers will have: to be flexible in the culture and way of life of the host country (in this case Spain); to be aware of the responsibilities that they will have being EVS volunteers and their involvement in the activities agreed and proposed in which they will collaborate obviously without replacing any job; to be ready and accept the fact that they will have to share tasks and everyday life since they will live with other EVS volunteers different from their own. The exchange is paramount. Participants will acquire or increase their skills but also must contribute with their knowledge. Participation, respect, initiative, sense of responsibility and flexibility are important factors to consider. Volunteers should be open-minded, unprejudiced, participate in activities and in everyday life. It is expected that volunteers are motivated to learn about the culture and the Spanish language. It is also desirable that volunteers actively participate and have their own initiative. The role of volunteers will be to assist the professional staff in its work. This will entail the completion of all activities that they will have to develop in any area within the daily schedule. Volunteers will never supersede any job. The methodology will be active and participatory always seeking the beneficial exchange between users of the Recreation Room and, of the Youth Center, the professionals and the volunteers. The activities in which volunteers will give their support throughout their EVS, always depending on their interests and abilities, are:  To support the responsible of the Recreation Room and and the Youth Center train the population of the neighborhoods on the importance of play as elements that promote the integral development of children and young  To unwrap a phase of participatory observation with families  To collaborate in the dissemination of the services offered by the Recreation Room and and the Youth Center to the entire population with an information campaign (brochures, posters ...)  To assist in organizing and operating the Recreation Room and the Youth Center as well as participate in daily activities.  To attend the distribute spaces, to adapt the local to the needs  To assist in organizing and carrying of purchases of the playful funds  To second in encouraging the participation of the Community of neighborhoods in the implementation of specific activities under the conception of the Recreation Room and and the Youth Center as a space for dialogue and inter-generational learning  To discover the functions of the Assembly of the Recreation Room and and the Youth Center.  To cooperate in scheduling activities, excursions, outings involving fathers/mothers, family, etc ... Volunteers bring a great contribution to the activities in the Local Entities besides knowing the day by day from a different population. We think that the involvement of volunteers in the project can be beneficial to all stakeholders and we observed that there is an increase on European Consciousness establishing a reciprocal exchange between cultures that affects everyone involved in this project: users, Associations and volunteers and at the same time, they know another culture, another way of life and society. The overall project will give a great opportunity to the volunteers and the local community to acquire knowledge from a nonformal way. It will be very useful, with their contributions to raise awareness to the Local Youth about the possibilities of the Erasmus+ Programme and increase Youth Mobility.
