“Active youth - development of potential” took place in Maddaloni (CE), Italy. The project involved 28 youth workers who coming from Hungary, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Romania, and Italy. NGO „OIKOS - ONLUS“, from Napoli as hosting organization, coordinated a 7-days seminar.
Within the broad spectrum of lifelong learning youth work played a vital part: benefits to young people and closeness to their concerns mean that it is a profession often with insufficient public profile.
Youth workers have play a central role in assisting the development of participative and democratic models for young people. Their work seeks to promote young people’s personal and social development and enable them to have a voice, influence and place in their communities and society as a whole.
Youth work is defined in the Council Resolution on a renewed framework for European co-operation in the youth field as a broad term covering a large scope of activities of a social, cultural, educational or political nature both by, with and for young people. The overall aim of the seminar was to provide space for youth workers as professional and voluntary based from European Uninon countries to share their realities, challenges and good practices as youth workers and define who can make youth work. So, an exchange between youth workers and young people from different cultures, backgrounds and youth work experiences is important for quality development, for learning and support, for knowledge transfer and for extending opportunities to develop and implement youth work at local and international level.
