The project will focus on one of the most important issues of today's society – “volunteering and active citizenship”. The main objective is to promote and reinforce the idea of making active and creative contributions to society on a local and national as well as international level. Students will collect information about their communities, local non-governmental, voluntary and economic organisations and actively become engaged in socio-economic life.We will try to strengthen the feeling that young people should be more active and creative in the routines of the local community, to motivate them to show a greater interest in current affairs, starting with volunteer work or community service leading to commitment in a supraregional and European dimension.A major target is to incorporate their activities and findings into a European Citizenship Network where they can exchange information with their European partners and have access to other institutions, while monitoring progress and sustainability by using ICT intensely.We also expect that through the project we will achieve the strengthening of the European dimension and a sense of European citizenship by promoting knowledge of life in different countries, co-operation and mobility. Through that project we want to bring young people closer to the existing social policies of the local realities to existing governmental and non-governmental organisations and volunteer groups, assist them on their mutual cooperation and support the creation of responsible citizens ready to actively take part in society in order to match future needs.
