1. RationaleTata and Svodín got twinned in 1997. Since then the educational and cultural institutions and some ngos have created good cooperations, and organised regular exchanges. The extent of spontaneous relations between the inhabitans of the two towns is, however, rather minor. Now both towns would like to involve more people, preferably whole families in the relations in order to put them on a wider social basis and also to bring in new ideas and involve new possible areas of cooperation. This would also serve the causes of tolerance and understanding between Slovaks and Hungarians on local level, with local tools, close to the people, with great efficiency.2. Cross-border impactThe project will take place on both sides of the frontier. It´s main aim is to bring closer the Slovak and Hungarian citizens by providing attractive opportunities for them to meet and work together. It is also expected to favourably influence the related fields of cooperation of the two countries, such as economy, tourism etc. by strengthening the interest and confidence between the two nations.3. Target groups1. Slovak and Hungarian inhabitants of both towns, who has not yet had the opportunity to get involved in the relations connecting the two towns for already 12 years.2. Ngo represenatives and artists who have had few opportunities so far to contribute to the Tata-Svodín relations. Achievements: Tata and Svodín have been twin towns since 1997. Since then some of the educational and cultural institutions and a few NGOs have created good cooperations and regular exchange programs between the two border cities, however the extent of spontaneous relations between inhabitants are considered rather minor. Therefore the intention of the project partners was to bring closer the Slovak and Hungarian citizens by organizing cultural events, water, music, flower festivals and art camps in Tata, a Slovak-Hungarian theatre night and other joint activities in Svodín. Within the frame of the project, the partners have issued a press release and programme brochures, a PR film, financed articles, photo documentation and arranged for TV and radio coverage.
