A lost Generation?NFLearning 4 Youth Employability
Start date: Mar 1, 2012,
This Training Course, held in Porto between the 28th April and the 4th May 2012, will bring together motivated youth workers and youth leaders active in the third sector from 14 Programme countries. It is of common knowledge that the latest financial crisis led to a tormenting increase in the Youth Unemployment rates, thus exacerbating the youth employment crisis which was already an enormous challenge. Sharing a common concern over the issue and aware of the importance of European cooperation in this field, the partners have decided to set up this project, thereby exploring means other than traditional (formal) education to support European policies combating the perils of Youth Unemployment.Hence, considering that “investing in young people is one of the best business plans”, we aim at inspiring young people to develop competences and soft skills required by the labour market while endorsing the recognition of the abovementioned competences with tools such as the Youthpass and promoting their better use and targeting with a more entrepreneurial approach in order to achieve higher Youth Employability rates. Concurrently, cultural diversity and intercultural learning will be under the spotlight. This TC, profiting from a great diversity of partners, will also focus on fostering mutual understanding and promoting tolerance among young people insofar as Cultural Diversity, Intercultural Dialogue and Non-Discrimination will always be tackled by the selected contents and methods. So, thanks to the choice over non-formal education methods, we intend to actively involve the participants in the diverse working moments, sharing opinions, cooperating amongst themselves, learning from each other and ultimately conceiving project ideas together. Hence, we expect to generate an experience of great personal and professional growth with significant development of skills and competences that can be of huge value in a future within a globalised and transnational labour market.
