The background for the project was to give pupils with special challenges a change to work in another country . Be it socio-economic as well as other challenges. We wanted to open up the possibility that these students also had the opportunity to experience the world and have a successful experience. Students with other special challenges , such as anxiety, ADHD and dyslexia were also in focus. The students had to leave in groups so they could support each other.
All in all we had 12 mobilities including accompanying teachers. The students all had some personal challenges as anxiety , poor meeting stability, stress , no self-confidence , poor concentration , not always successfull in implementing what they were working with.
Our goals with the project were the following:
- Develop students' language skills.
- That the student had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with various foreign traditions and cultures.
- The student should experience the atmosphere, the culture, the form of communication, working conditions, routines, service and business processes in a foreign company, helping to give the student a good understanding of international affairs .
- The student would develop personally and be inspired to solve problems and challenges
- The student's interpersonal skills would be strengthened in the process.
- That the student got inspiration and new knowledge in an educational context, but also experience and life experiences, so the student could get the opportunity afterwards to share the experience with fellow students and increase international interest. Experience and interest in a societal perspective, would help to expand the student's horizons and understanding of international contexts.
- The accompanying teacher / mentor also got new and educational experiences for use and inspiration. The stay would also strengthen the relationship with the individual student and increase the chance for better support and career guidance.
During the work in the internship, the students all followed the working routines of their companies , and they have been implemented in all the tasks that the company has found that students could handle. They have learned to deal with customers and suppliers, have experienced a new culture, have learned that working in a company in another country may be different from Denmark .
There is no doubt that the students have gained a lot from the project, which they could use in their future lives, both privately and professionally. They have all completed their training with us now, but they are in the process of either higher education or an apprenticeship.
