13 DOCS AGAINST GRAVITY FILM FESTIVAL

13 DOCS AGAINST GRAVITY will take place in four major Polish cities ( Warsaw, Wroclaw, Bydgoszcz, Gdynia), between May 6-15, 2016. Within the program of "Weekend with Docs Against Gravity" six festival films will be screened in another twenty cities and towns between May 13-15. As usual, major Polish media will cover the event before and during the festival by interviews and own commentary. Over 80 filmmakers will come to Poland to meet the audience after the screenings. Three cinemas in Warsaw ( 5-2-2 screens), one cinema in Bydgoszcz ( 2 screens), one cinema in Wroclaw ( 3 screens), one cinema in Gdynia ( 2 screens) will show approx 120 films all together. We plan to organize 60 events related to presented films: panel discussions, workshops on social and cultural change, music concerts, special screenings for teachers, for parents with children, for senior audience. There will be11 competition sections: Millennium Award, the main competition for the best film, Frame with no fiction Award for cinematography achievement. Fiction/non-fiction for the best film on boundary of genres (new competition), Amnesty International Award (the only festival in Poland with this Award), Warsaw Green Award (the only such fim competition in Poland), Chopin Nose Award for the best film on Art, Youth Jury Award, National Filmothek Award for the best film in the program of Weekend with Docs Against Gravity and Audience Award in Warsaw. There are two local Awards given by Local Authorities: Lower Silesia Film Award in Wroclaw and Gdynia City Hall Award, for the best film of the main competition. Focus Monthly gives an Award for "the biggest personality of the festival". There will be thematic sections: "The city is ours!", "Fetish and Culture", "Intimate stories, "People, not numbers",. Oki Doki is a film section for kids organized by our education unit- Akademia Dokumentalna. There will be screenings and lessons in the cineamas in all four major cities of the festival.
