Start date: Jun 1, 2014,
End date: Nov 30, 2014
PROJECT
FINISHED
The main aim of the project is to increase the understanding of different European cultures among the participating teenagers. The participants from Latvia, Sweden, France and Rumania will through their common interest - dance - come closer and together discuss questions of culture, democracy, Europe and the role culture and history plays in an open society. This will be done through common work on dance projects, study visits, excursions, group discussions and meetings with local representatives of the cultural scene and local democracy. The participants will both work all together and in smaller groups. We will gradually let them work more and more in mixed smaller groups, handling independent assignments. Many youths from Sweden and France have immigrant backgrounds and come from cities with more or less mixed populations. Both in Cesis and Comarnic the picture is more homogenous. The economical level is much lower in Latvia and Rumania and it is often hard for young peole there to finance foreign travel. Ten young people and two leaders from each of the four cities will take part in the project.
