The CPIE (Centres Permanents d'Initiatives pour l'Environnement) are environmental associations raising awareness on sustainable development, ecological transition and adaptation to climate change throughout France. The national network is composed of 80 associations members. The regional union (UR CPIE Auvergne Rhône Alpes) federates 10 members and associated members in the region of Auvergne Rhône ;
The CPIE have two missions :
- raising awareness and organise workshops in schools and holiday centres and providing pedagogical tools and information for teachers
- support sustainable community development ;
They work with primary, secondary schools and universities and have been able to developpe over 30 years of networking participatory approaches, tools for territorial dialogue and a wide range of pedagogical support and methods to raise awareness and involve the inhabitants and the visitors into the preservation and management of areas of outstanding beauties.
The 7 CPIE of Auvergne Rhône Alpes are situated in rural areas. They have developped activities on various themes linked to sustainable development : soft mobility and renewable energies, adaptation to climate change, diversification and tourism, agriculture, local food and health, preservation of landscape,...
