About Me

​Mobilenet is a research group at the University of Málaga (UMA) specializing in the development of next-generation mobile networks. Comprising over 30 researchers, the team collaborates with leading industry and academic partners worldwide on more than 20 ongoing projects. Their expertise spans network performance, data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), and self-organizing networks (SON), contributing significantly to the evolution of mobile communications. 

Founded in the early 2000s, Mobilenet began focusing on applying AI to mobile networks—a pioneering endeavor at the time. Over the past two decades, their work has been instrumental in enhancing network efficiency and service quality for users. The group's research encompasses fault detection, resolution, and network optimization, utilizing AI algorithms to automate diagnostics and improve performance. 

Mobilenet actively participates in international committees, organizes conferences and workshops, and maintains dynamic exchanges with research institutions across the European Union. Their collaborations have led to significant contributions in defining technologies for companies like Vodafone's new R&D center in Málaga. Additionally, the group has been involved in projects funded by the Next Generation EU program, focusing on open radio access networks (Open RAN) and predictive network analysis to advance 6G technology.

In recognition of their efforts to position Málaga as a hub for 5G/6G technologies, Mobilenet has contributed to establishing unique research infrastructures in Spain, fostering collaborations with entities such as Telefónica, the Málaga City Council, and the European Space Agency. 

Through these initiatives, Mobilenet continues to drive innovation in mobile network technologies, reinforcing UMA's role as a leader in telecommunications research.
