The project intends to raise the population's awareness on the problem of waste management involving young people (18-29 y/o) from the Roma community in the collection of waste material. The model will be elaborated through the assistance of a CSO Montenegrin Partner, which will share its knowledge on this topic, the Municipalities of Kavajë and a Montenegrin one, which will be held responsible for the sustainability and the continuity of this model, the businesses in the tourist and waste sectors, which have an economic interest at stake, and the Roma community, who is part of the community living in the area and already has a role in waste management in both countries. We thought about a Montenegrin Partner because, unlike Albania, in Montenegro there is a proper infrastructure to collect waste across the country, so it is reasonable to assume that the Montenegrin context has developed good experience in collecting waste and garbage. For this reason, the Partner will help develop a shared waste collection model, to transfer good practices and skills which will be implemented in the Albanian context.
Preferably, the chosen partner should have experience with waste management and working with young people in this field. Working with young people is fundamental to identify the young trainers, who will be responsible for sharing their knowledge and the best practices to the Albanian counterparts. Furthermore, the partner will be in charge of the work packages concerning the creation of trusteeship, collaboration and awareness of the stakeholders involved, as its know-how will influence the educational training and the working labs set by the project. Finally, the partner will be a member of the monitoring team which will evaluate the deployment of the waste collection activities in Albania, looking at the data provided and assisting the realisation of the final report.
