The project idea
For Bulgaria and the rural municipalities there are no other useful health and social solutions for creating an acceptable and universal human model other than developing new models that are tailored to the huge structural human and territorial disparities. New solidarity solutions include digital and digital services that can deliver solutions in several directions. They are:
- Distance Treatment - This includes telemedicine, treatment and advice through online tools - relates to healthcare.
- Remote monitoring - this includes sensors attached to people, cameras, reminders and data collection - relates to health and social care.
- Digital health and social care services - this is based on innovative new solutions in the form of public and private partnerships for digital services and new service models, where citizens can also take greater responsibility.
The project will demonstrate an integrated approach of expertise in different sectors, identify and transfer at least three innovative practices, and by the end of the project will present an integrated common health and social model applicable to the Bulgarian rural municipality.
Bulgaria, and in particular all rural municipalities, incl. and the municipality of Botevgrad face major challenges in terms of demographics, service, housing, infrastructure, attractiveness, education and employment. The depopulation of villages has been a fact for at least fifteen years, with more than ¾ of those living in the villages being people over the age of 65 and children whose relatives are abroad. Poor living conditions and low wages are also affecting depopulation in urban municipalities, and in recent years this trend has also affected regional cities. With the exception of the capital and two or three other Bulgarian cities, vast territories are in economic depression and rapidly declining. There are huge groups of people who need health and social assistance, but there is a lack of demographic resources and resources to care for those people. Added to this are the diseases of modern times that are forcing older people into forced desocialization, the most recent example being the spread of COVID-19.
