PROJECT
FINISHED
Main stimulus for the project realization was a long lasting cooperation with our partner school. Another reason why we wanted to carry out this project was to allow the students from less stimulating social backgrounds, whose financial situation does not afford to travel to other countries. Besides acquiring new professional skills, students also had the opportunity to know and visit some other country. The project implementation contributed to students’ personal development, increased their self-confidence, motivation and made their horizons wider.
The main objective of this project was to provide professional education in our partner school to those students whose financial situation was very bad. Our project partner has an extensive experience in training, provides catering services at a high level and owns advanced facilities and computer equipment.
The main idea of the project was students‘ internship from the Secondary Vocational School of business and services in Rimavska Sobota, in the partner‘s school (The Secondary school of Communal catering) located in Poděbrady, in the neighbouring Czech Republic.
The students had the opportunity to enrich their knowledge and skills in a form of professional practice in modern equipped premises of the partner school and also in various selected catering – accomodation premises in Poděbrady and its surroundings as well. The participants had also the possibility to get to know new country, its history, culture and could make friends in the European spirit.
There were 15 students and two accompanying persons involved in the project. Main activity lasted 14 days. During that time, students took part in the extensive programme aimed at increasing their professional knowledge and skills in the fields of cook, waiter/waitress and hotel business.
In preparation phase, we gave students basic information about the host country. By implementation of the project we have achieved :
- Increasing of the level of professional skills and knowledge skills above the current standards in similar vocational schools.
-Increasing of the level of language skills - professional Czech terminology, computer skills – manage information system in catering establishments.
- Support of participants from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Increasing the ability of adaptability according to changed educational and working conditions and promoting international cooperation.
- Strengthen the interest in further education and to increase motivation, awareness of necessity of education and the improvement in their field in order to sustain competitive
- Deepening cooperation with our long-term partner /hosting organization/.
- Increase the knowledge about the Czech nation and to strengthen relationship among nations.
- Improve the quality of European countries cooperation in the fields of gastronomy and catering services
- Multicultural dimension support (tolerance of other cultures, nations etc.)
- Lead participants to their independence and efficient time management
Monitoring work of this intership was held by two accompanying persons – masters of vocational training and internship mentor from the partner´s school, where the daily conducted individual interviews and evening discussions focused on summarizing the daily output and knowledge took place. The level of commitment to the implementation of the project of students was monitored, their newly acquired knowledge and practical skills in different branches of the host country were checked. Participants have acquired new knowledge in their field by visiting of modern equipment and field trips. Our students became acquainted with the latest trends and innovations in gastronomy and restaurant services. Their social skills and communication skills were promoted. They learnt the elements of national and international cuisine and tried to care for demanding clients, they also improved their language (communication) and computer skills (familiarity with information systems for orders, inventory, etc.). Participants received a certificate from the partner school about the completion of the internship and Europass - Mobility was issued.
Other activities of the project were to disseminate the experience gained from internships. Participants presented their activity in Podebrady on the notice boards, in discussions and they also applied their acquired knowledge and skills from Czech cuisine when they were running the Days of Czech cuisine at school´s branch Black Eagle.
By the completion of this practice/intership participants acquired competences, which can make their entry into the labor market within the European area easier and smoother.
