The project will enhance the effectiveness of nature protection in the form of cross-border harmonization while stimulating the target groups awareness. Protection policy will be realized by increasing the awareness of the local population of all age groups at the Slovak side and at the side of the project partners in Hungarian. By the means of prepared activities we would like to address the need to inform the inhabitants in relation to the field of nature protection. Promotion and educational publications ensuring mutual information of inhabitants across the border will be prepared in cooperation with the Municipality of Miskolc. Both sides have the same issue the awareness of nature protection. Achievements: The zoo in Košice in Slovakia and in Miskolc in Hungary attract more than 300 thousand visitors annually, mostly students from different types of schools in the neighbouring regions. Besides breeding and demonstrating different attractive animal species from all around the world, the zoos play other important roles related to the nature education of the youth and increase their environmental awareness. Therefore, the fundamental idea of the project was to build educational botanical nature trails and demonstrations of the photosynthesis process as well as to prepare various educational materials contributing to raising the environmental awareness and enhancing the environmental values. The project contributed to improving the quality of the educational roles of both zoos and to increasing the visibility and attractiveness of the cities of Miskolc and Košice.
