In 2012 was established Challengest, which is connecting students and graduates on the labor market. In November 2013 there was a Shape Europe event in Madrid focused on youth unemployment under the patronage of World Economic Forum. Challengest was one of the presented solutions and fast become popular among attendees. The whole framework of Social Challenges was finalized on following workshops under facilitation of Global Shapers. This framework allows not only to interconnect students and graduates with companies but also take advantage of untapped potential of young people in solving social problems in our society. For the first 2 year period there were set 8 challenges and through international network 4 Global Shapers decided to join us through nonprofit organizations from Spain, Denmark, Portugal and United Kingdom. The main focus of these organization is in activities with students and with preparing them for their future profession, what creates opportunities for long term synergies on international level. During project preparation we discussed with many more organizations from Global Shapers network about participation on Social Challenges, but unfortunately they were not ready to join project in such time pressure. On the other hand, they are really excited about project and are ready to participate in the later project phase and are willing to bring more Social Challenges which will be funded from private funds of companies. This feedback from partners and feedback from companies confirms our assumption about sustainability of this project even after end of funding from Erasmus+ resources. After 8 Social Challenges, we expect that society receives more than 5 000 new solutions on socially important topics, 25 000 students and graduates receive access to companies regarding their professional future. Students and graduates will also attend e-learning courses, which will improve their competences for their future employment. We expect several important impacts. One of the most important is support of engagement and proactivity of young people. Successful students and graduates will also act as inspiration for many of their peers, with main message that with activity you can improve your chances to be successful. With this we’ll dramatically improve reach among our target group even on people who have not directly interacted with Social Challenges. Solutions will provide suggestions for solving Social Challenges and these solutions will be publicly available so they can serve on purposes of regional institutions, non-profit organizations, government and European institutions. On the national level our activities will at the end also impact youth unemployment, which is one of the biggest social problems these days. On European level project will offer completely new vision on involvement of young people in global social issues. It will show unused potential of young people during their studies at universities and new innovative way how to use this potential in favor of solving real challenges. We believe that students do not have to wait for their first professional challenges long time after end of their studies, but they are ready to use their knowledge and skills for society today.
