Nowadays eduction system is facing great challenges and high requirements from both social and economic environment as well as from the side of high developed human being. Raising and motivating of children becomes more and more difficult while constantly changing world with its great new possibilities requires more and more creative, free, socially active and responsible young personalities. And this puts high pressure on competencies of teachers. Teachers must be themselves very active, creative and motivated to be perceptive towards both world's and children's needs and to be capable to reflect them in the education process by applying new modern education methods and tools aiming at creating proper surrounding to nurture child ensuring sufficient and safe development of talents, capacities, creativity, self-expression, which one day transform into new competencies.
The main goal of this project was to ensure high quality of the education process on the school level, which meets high EU education standards, high society needs but at the same time strongly supports specific needs and safe development of individual child competencies to raise him free, responsible and creative personality for private, professional, social and international life.
Specific goals of the project were the following:
- to increase existing competencies of teachers with the special focus on better education quality in the higher school levels;
- to promote international activities and attract the best practices for applying innovative and effective training methods and tools,
- to stimulate the wide integration of these methods and tools into everyday education process.
2 competence raising courses were planned for participants within the project to achieve these goals. The topics of courses covered education in 9 and 12 grades. Chosen courses were exclusive by its geographical coverage of countries, high number of participants and represented institutions as well as high competencies of well experienced trainers and specialists.
10 teachers from Vilnius Valdorf school attended these courses. They were selected through special selection procedure considering their needs, experience and relevance of subject. The participants acquired both specific professional as well as general education process oriented skills. They disseminated gained knowledge among colleagues, applyed when preparing recommendations to improve school education programme as well as directly apply in their everyday teaching practices.
The proper project implementation was ensured by nominating project implementation team - project manager and accountant. At the same time the specific working group of teachers was created to ensure quality of pedagogical content and results within the project.
The main beneficiary of the project is Vilnius Valdorf school and its pedagogical staff. The main outcomes of the project are following:
- increased competences of educational staff;
- acquired new knowledge and skills to be directly applied in the everyday teaching process,
- the best practices of foreign countries as well as information on innovative effective teaching, motivation, evaluation methods and tools is gained;
- education programme of school is refined based on new knowledge and practices.
All these outcomes will have a long lasting impact not only on the higher education quality in the school, but also developing these ideas beyond the project. The close and intensive communication and cooperation with all interested parties (pupils, their parents, other common and Waldorf type educational institutions, all broad society interested in nontraditional education) was taken through out entire project and after its finalization. They were introduced to the project, its activities, gained knowledge, skills and practices as well as project results by the electronic communication tools, meetings, discussion rounds, presentations, common practical work as well as specific projects with pupils.
