PROJECT
FINISHED
The intention behind the project was to contribute to the reduction of unemployment in Radom and the Radom poviat, as well as to improve the structure of employment in rural areas. The percentage of people directly employed in agriculture is still too high in Poland. The present Project has been successfully implemented by the ZSAiGŻ in cooperation with two partners from Germany.
The German partners were two vocational training centres: DEULA Nienburg and ILLUT B–B. 2 groups of 18 students each with their tutors from the agricultural engineering technical school as well as nutrition and catering service technical school participated in the traineeship. During their stay the students improved their knowledge and skills in practical foundation of businesses providing services in the sector corresponding to their profession. The programme of the traineeship has involved getting to know the principles of such businesses functioning in Germany as well. The traineeships were held in 2015 and 2016. Each of the groups of students has been at their German partners for the period of 2 weeks.
The main aim of the project was to enhance knowledge and skills of trainees, help them gain experience in the use of modern machinery and equipment as well as support students in the acquisition and use of the knowledge in practice. The project certainly has increased the attractiveness of vocational education in our school. Also the trainees skills to adapt to new working conditions in a culturally different environment has been developed, which should contribute to their better functioning on the labour market.
While implementing the project the students of the agricultural engineering technical school have got to know modern tractors, sprayers, harvesters and combined cultivators. They have learnt how to select and combine units as well as to operate and control them. They performed maintenance and regulation services on the machines mechanisms. They have familiarized themselves with operation the navigation systems used in precision agriculture. They have learnt how to employ safety measures during work and have familiarized themselves with the principles of environmental protection.
Students educating in the profession of the nutrition and catering service technician have been interested in the mastery of knowledge and practical skills necessary for furnishing dining establishments. In particular, they were interested in the organisational structure, actual working conditions, applied technologies, equipment and functional layout of various catering entities. Modern equipment of the German facility has enabled students to familiarise themselves with modern technical and technological solutions in the catering profession.
Our Project helped young people realise that they can find a place for themselves after the school graduation in broadly comprehended services. After completing the agricultural engineering technical school students can launch their own machinery and tractor repair business or run a business providing agricultural services. Graduates from the catering service technical school can establish a small business fulfilling the needs of a local community. During their stay in Germany the trainees have had an opportunity to monitor how such companies operate and as a result have been able to see that there is a demand for such kind of services. Thanks to observing proven German solutions, they will be able to implement them in their own environment. Each established company will contribute to the reduction of unemployment of people living in rural areas and to restructuring of employment. Every activity aiming at activation of people at the productive age is valuable, especially in areas of high unemployment.
The traineeship of our students abroad allowed them to gain new practical skills. This may affect the rapid modernisation of farms, the establishment of small service firms or small eateries that would meet the needs of local communities. Ultimately, the project can improve the level of agricultural incomes and improve the market competitiveness of farms in the area. In this way, our institution can contribute to the promotion of sustainable development of rural areas in the poviat of Radom and raise of the level of professional qualifications of farmers and other residents of villages, from which our students come.
After the completion of the Project, it has to be said that all of the objectives had been achieved. Our school has broadened experiences in the use of EU programmes and has reinforced the cooperation with foreign partners. The trainees have gained plenty of new skills as well as professional, linguistic, organizational and social competencies. They have become familiar with new provinces of Germany. Skills and competencies gained by the students during the traineeship have been confirmed by the institutions responsible for the traineeship. Each participant also has received the EM document as well.
