In November 2014 Varna was nominated to be European Youth Capital for 2017. The title is awarded by the European Youth Forum for a period of one year to a city challenged to become a showcase, through a multi-faceted program in various directions, such as culture, arts, social inclusion, education, employment. That is why the project “Together on the InnoWave” is aiming to increase the capacity of the local youth organizations and their dynamic cores – the youth workers, in orders to implement qualitative youth initiatives and projects, which will have both local effect and European dimension in preparation and implementation of Varna 2017. The main goal of the project will be achieved through exchange of experience and good practices in the field of youth innovations and urban development with representatives from other European cities, who else have strong youth policy and capacity in the field of the youth and experience and realization of the initiative European youth capital. It will be implemented within he frames of two main general project types - 5 training exchange. The objective of the exchanges is to provide the local NGOs from Varna, working in the youth field with opportunity to learn local youth policies and good practices from European cities with already proven capacity in development of youth policy and history in the preparation of the European youth Capitals. The exchanges will give the participants opportunity to exchange good practices and inspiring ideas in two directions – development of attractive youth activities and utilization of urban spaces in favor of the youth. The project is coordinated by a team, consisting of experts of the coordinating organization – Municipality of Varna. The team also includes experts, representatives of the local youth NGO sector, members of the team working for the preparation of Varna European Youth Capital 2017, who actively support all elements of the educational process and also the logistics issues.
