YOUTH SUPPORT YOUTH
Start date: Jul 1, 2015, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project of transnational youth initiative Youth support youth started on 1. 7. 2015 and ended on 30. 6. 2016 (365 days). The legal applicant of the project in Youth center Krško (Slovenia). The partner organizations were Loma-Nurmes Oy (Nurmes, Finland), Verein zur Förderung von Kulturaustausch und Nachhaltigkeit in Europa (Graz, Austria) in Association pour l'Accompagnement des Actions de Mobilité Internationale (Echirolles, France). The project activities were organized in all local activities of the partners. There were 4 initiative groups in the project (6 young people/country, together 24), aged from 18 to 28, that participated in the international youth mobility projects (EVS, exchanges,…) in the past and had been volunteers in the local area. Initiative groups will be gender balanced. The project existed from an idea, given by the young people from Krško, on the dialogue with the decision makers, that there should be more inovative methods when trying to include young people with fewer opportunities. Some of the partners (Finland) had years of experience with that, but upgraded their program with this initiative. The main objectives of the project were to empower young people to become an active citizen in the society, to ensure that they had access to gain informal knowledge, to strengthen the youth field in Europe and to learn new information about enterpreneurship (especially social ent.) and to put them in practice. There were more leading activities in the project. Firstly the intitiative group identified even more than planned 24 youngsters that were not included into formal education and they did not work. The result of the project is also that some of them decided to participate in the international youth projects (short term EVS, exchanges, international trainings for mentors,…) in all partner organizations. The initiative groups weekly prepared workshops with various themes (computers, learning English, enterpreneurship, basics and history about EU, preparing own project, sports activities,…). Young people also met the decision makers, who were informed about the proccess of the project on a regular bases, and helped to evaluate the objectives in the end. Together they set the new actions for the future concerning how to include young people into society. The main method was peer learning, learning by doing, individual support of young person (member of the initiative group) to a young person with fewer opportunities, group work, researching,… The initiative groups met once during the project, on the mid-term evaluation that took place in Austria. The themes of the meeting were presenting past work, sharing experience, searching better soultions for the challenges and planning the second half of the project. They were communicating mainly on Facebook and a few time salso with the use of Skype conference tool. Youngsters in the project did not receive Youthpass certificates with the project description and the gained competences in the end as there is not such an option for K2 projects to get it. However the participants who were on an int. youth exchanges, short-term EVS, int. trainings received their Youthpasses there. Partners agreed and prepared the internal confirmation in their mother tongue that they participated in the project and which knowledge and skills they gained. Each group was using their mother language. The exception was the transnational meeting in Austria, where the English language was used. Also while the English language coursees and the int. activities youngsters also spoke English.
