Having access to information relevant to a specific situation is an essential skill for young people and youth information workers alike. The Training to Trainers on the Youth on the Move - InfoMobility (YoMIM) service has the main goal of endowing trainers with the capacity to deliver YoMIM trainings that introduce a specific face-to-face youth information service for young people on the move and endow youth information workers with the necessary knowledge and skills for providing this. The resulting service does not only facilitates young people's stay abroad and increases its quality but promotes the mobility of young people by offering services that encourage those to take part in a mobility experience who would otherwise not take this step.
The YoMIM training course is a tangible outcome of a previous Youth in Action project of ERYICA and the trainers trained in this project are now multipliers the content of the course, grouped around three general objectives:
- To prepare YoMIM Guides with the skills, knowledge and practical information required to support them in their role of providing (quality) information to young people on the move;
- To ensure YoMIM Guides understand the values and attitudes needed to perform their role;
- To enhance the development and progression of the YoMIM network.
These objectives were reached with the help of two professional trainers on digital youth information. Activities consisted of several on-line meetings with project stakeholders, an online pre-task for all participants, a face-to-face training for a number of 18 trainers of youth information workers, together with evaluation and follow-up actions. Participants were experienced trainers who worked within the youth information field or are closely connected to it. The activity itself used non-formal education and "learning by doing" methodologies.
As the main outcome, this 5-day activity trained 18 multipliers of the YoMIM training who are now in the process of further disseminating its content to youth information workers, ameliorating youth information services in the project host Cyprus, as well as Croatia, Finland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Sweden.
