Youth meets Kindergarten
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our project “Youth meets nursery school” provides an opportunity for young people to gain experience in another European country and thus in another culture. It is our aim that young people become more open-minded regarding their mindset and their actions by caring for children from different nationalities in a border region between Germany, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Hence, the experience is going to strengthen and support his European awareness. The volunteer should be open-minded, creative, sporting, and social. In our institution, he may have versatile learning experiences: interaction with children by means of individual child-care or group supervision, entertaining activities, self dependent and flexible action, working in a team, acquiring pedagogical competences. The main activities will be childminding for nursery school children. During sports activities or the weekly activities in the forest, he may take over the supervision of certain activities himself. In projects outside school, the volunteer is needed as additional support. In cooperation with our partner organisation, we will prepare the volunteer for this project with clear arrangements and a clear definition of aims according to the EVS Charta. These objectives will be monitored and analysed on a frequent basis. The participation in leisure activities, meeting other young people, making new acquaintances (private contacts or other volunteers) will help integrating the volunteer in our local community. The non-formal learning outcomes are going to be described and confirmed by the use of Youthpass, which is a certificate for the volunteer’s development and applicable throughout Europe.
