Youth Leaders for Social Change - Russia

"Youth Leaders for Social Change!- Russia" is an EVS project which aims at raising awareness of the involved volunteers but also of other participants about Human Rights, democratic citizenship, international developmental collaboration, gender, equality, cultural diversity and civic engagment. Two volunteers from Russia will come to Sweden for the duration of twelve months to actively engage in building cooperation and enhancing cultural dialogue between Sweden, Russia, and Central Asia. Most of the activities will take place in Malmö and Lund, Sweden. The tasks of the volunteers will include developing human rights platform for Central Asia/Eastern Europe, coordinating study circle on developmental issues, organizing public lectures to raise awareness about issues in region and carrying out Russian Cafe for those who want to practice Russian. The project also includes several educational components - such as workshops, trainings and exchanges concerning topics of Human rights, conflict prevention, democratic citizenship and gender/equal opportunities. Moreover, there is plenty of space for volunteers to build their own projects based on their background and professional interests. The volunteers will get a unique opportunity to experience and learn more about a country and its society, where she/he would not be able to go to for such an extensive period otherwise. The volunteers will also share his/her experiences with other young people upon return to the home country through seminars, workshops and lectures at a a variety of venues. Like that, the goals and values of the project will be spread further and have a larger impact on the youth in Russia.
