Youth for Culture - Back to Vevcani 2012

The Youth Exchange “XX” will connect 60 participants coming from Macedonia, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Spain, Estonia, Poland, Slovenia and Latvia and provide them a unique opportunity for 9 – days to discover and learn about European cultural heritage of all participant‘s countries. Moreover the participants will be directly involve in one of the oldest cultural tradition of hosting country - Carnival of Vevcani that is being celebrating for more than 1.400 years on 13 and 14 January (on the eve of the last day of the old and the first day of the New Year, according to the orthodox calendar). What’s make Carnical of Vevcani so unique it is a fact that it’s a massive event in which everybody from the village Vevcani takes part. It means that for participants of the YE it is also unique opportunity to interact with local community and to increase cultural awareness on both sides. During the YE the participants will take part in variety intercultural tasks and exercises as well as they will work in mix intercultural teams on group mask which all of them will wear in the carnival. Moreover the participants will together prepare several media products as short stories, photos, clip which will be used by all involved organizations for raising cultural awareness all around Europe as the media products will be spread around by using different communication tools. All youth exchange will be based on concept of non-formal learning and it will take place at two places in Macedonia – Struga and Vevcani.
