Youth Entrepreneurship for Sustainability
Youth Entrepreneurship for Sustainability
Start date: Nov 1, 2014,
End date: Jun 30, 2015
PROJECT
FINISHED
Today we face serious and pressing problems related to social and environmental aspects. At the same time, business is seen by majority as a problem and not as a solution to these challenges. „Youth entrepreneurship for sustainability” proposes a new approach to business, because it has the capacity to create resources and opportunities to adress the social and environmental problems in an innovative way and at a large scale. The solution to transform business is to raise the visibility of the entrepreneurs who create social value, to change the business education process, to foster the cooperation between NGOs and businesses. The project will represent our contribution to this process and we hope it will be a starting point for a long cooperation between the involved organisations.
The objectives of the project are: (1) to develop the involved organisations’s facilitation and entrepreneurial training skills (Each organisation will select 2 members (a total of 10 participants) for the training ”Three pillars of the Entreprenership for Sustainability: Leadership, Social Innovation and Business fundamentals”. Next, they will apply the competencies achieved during the training in the 2 following youth exchanges - where they, as group leaders, will organize and facilitate learning activities.); (2) to foster an entrepreneurship mindset and to develop entrepreneurial competences for 40 young people (Each organisation will recruit 8 young people for the youth exchanges (a total of 40 participants) for the youth exchanges ”Social Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development” and ”Green Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development”); (3) to raise awareness about the importance of the entrepreneurship and business in the process of sustainable development.
The main activities of the project are: (1) the ”Learn & Share - Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development” Training , 15.10.2014-19.10.2014, 10 participants from 5 countries; (2) the ”Social Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development” Youth Exchange, 16.11.2014-23.11.2014, 20 participants + 5 group leaders* from 5 countries and (3) the ”Green Entrepreneurship & Sustainable Development” Youth Exchange, 30.11.2014 -07.12.2014, 20 participants + 5 group leaders from 5 countries.
For the training, we’ll use the Active Learning model to approach the three pillars of Entrepreneurship for Sustainability: Leadership, Social Innovation and Business Fundamentals. The Leadership topic will include Theory U, empowering beliefs, skills in leadership. Social Innovation topic will be adressed trough a thinking map. For business fundamentals we chose the business model Canvas. For the internal reflection, we’ll use Learning Mandala method.
For the youth exchanges, we want to stimulate the entrepreneurial mindset through study visits, movies, workshops, simulations and debates. Participants will talk about leaders they admire, will create their Leadership Skills Plan and will develop entrepreneurship ideas in order to adress social and environmental issues.
