The project Youth Engaging the State (YES), involves the organization of a three day Policy Forum with the participation of 30 young individuals of various backgrounds (financial, societal, geographical, educational) and levels of involvement in public affairs and youth policy. During the proposed Forum, the participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the workings and modus operandi of key institutions and agencies of the Cypriot state such is the Parliament, the civil service, the Ministries and local administration. Additionally they are presented with techniques and ways through which they can engage these agencies/institutions to put forward their views as well as question and/or exert influence on their decisions. More importantly, they will be given the opportunity to discuss the workings of these agencies/institutions with key stakeholders giving their opinions and suggestions to make their processes more transparent, open and participatory. These opinions and suggestions will then be further discussed before the participants reach into a set of proposals for each agency/institution that will be included in a Policy paper our officers will draft and disseminate to stakeholders and the general public.
