Icelandic youth is raising it's voice. They care about what is happening in our society and want to express their opinions. The Icelandic scout association thinks that this is a positive development and we want to take part in this change by giving young people tools and empower them to speak up. Our mission to train young scouts to be able to participate in big International events such as The World Scout Conference, World Scout Youth Forum and even The European Youth Forum. There are two Scout and Guide Associations in Norway, The YWCA-YMCA Guides and Scouts of Norway and Norges speiderforbund (NSF). Over the last years these two Norwegian organizations they have been working with youth empowerment at local, regional and national level. Both of the Norwegian organizations are now working on how they can make scouting and guiding youth more known to international guiding and scouting, how to prepare and involve them in decision making at both regional and national level. The Finnish scouts have been working on a Youth delegation preparation program which we are really interested in. We think that the program can be very beneficial for the Icelandic and Norwegian scouts/guides and we think that the best approach is to learn from the Finnish scouts first hand. For the Guides and Scouts of Finland, the long-term goal has been to mainstream international dimension of guiding and scouting as a part of every-day activities on both local, regional and national level. Thus, the experiences from Norway and Iceland would help to improve their efforts and ensure that every young person has an equal opportunity for an international experience.The project is a visit to Helsinki, Finland and the planned dates are 16-18 September 2016.There will be three days of planned activities and meetings. Each day includes two working sessions. Day 1.a. We want to have a working session with the Finnish International Committee in which they would present to us their Youth Delegation Preparation Program. The roles of the Icelandic and Norwegian participants in this work session is to observe and learn from the Finnish International Committee.Day1.b. We want to have a meet-up with the participants of the Finnish youth delegation preparation program. The roles of the Icelandic and Norwegian participants in this work session is to observe and learn from the Finnish International Committee and the youth delegation participants.Day 2.a. We want to learn how the Finish International Committee develops a document on the situation within the World Organizations of Scouting and the topics that are important to Finnish Scouts and that they want to see happen in World Scouting. Day 2.b. We want to have a working session in which the Icelandic scouts explain their policy to attract and host international events in order to provide Icelandic scouts with the opportunity to participate in the preparation and execution of international projects.Day 3.a. We want to adjust the Finnish Youth Delegation Preparation Program to Icelandic and Norwegian circumstances and make an action plan on how it will be adopted.Day 3.b. We want to have a meeting where the three countries discuss the present involvement in International scouting (WAGGGS and WOSM)There are 22 participants in this project. 7 from Iceland, 7 from Finland and 8 from Norway.All the participants have roles in their Organizations concerning International affairs, youth participation and youth empowerment. The expected results are the following: We want the organizations and participants to gain better tools and experience on training and preparation of youth delegates for international events and forums. We want to empower the Icelandic and the Norwegian participant to keep on their voluntariness in scouting by giving them the opportunity to learn from the Finnish scouts. We want to increase the Icelandic, Norwegian and Finland's participants network of scouts in nearby countries for future cooperation within youth work and training.We want the Finnish participants to reach their goal of mainstreaming international dimension of guiding and scouting as a part of every-day activities on both local, regional and national level.We are going to use this experience and the work that it will result as a tool to increase young people's interests in International scouting and International participation in general. Not only Icelandic youth but Finnish and Norwegian youth as well. The long term goal is to prepare our youth so they can attend international meetings and events. We want them to raise their voice and make a change.
