Start date: Dec 1, 2008,

The aims of the project are:Participate in the EVS-program and to offer participants from other European countries possibilities to participate in our work with young people.Allow volunteers to work in Hitt Húsið and participate in the various projects and acquire new skills, in general, but in particular (in this case), to work in the cultural department and participate in what's going on there at every given moment, but that varies according to the season. Gallerí Tukt is a venue for the visual arts open to all. The Gallerí tries to reflect what young people are doing in the visual arts, i.e. installations, paintings, photography, drawings, design, ceramics, computer art, sculptures and more.Listsmiðjan is an excellent work facility for creative work of all sorts for groups and individuals. Fimmtudagsforleikurinn (means "The Thursday Prelude") in the cellar is weekly concert on Thursday evenings during the winter and is red hot when it comes to music. Músíktilraunirnar "The Music experiment" is a week long music festival in Mars where 50 groups compete to win the award to be the band of the year.Götuleikhúsið ("The Street Theatre") brings joy to everyone during the summer months. The Street Theatre puts on a number of theatrical happenings in the streets and squares of the city and has for instance shows on June 17th. The Street Theatre operates for two months a year during the summer. The Creative Summer groups exist of young people who are given the opportunity to apply for work at Hitt Húsid and put forward their ideas for creative summer projects and then develop and work on them for 8 weeks during the summer. Unglist-The Young Peoples' Art Festival is the main thing in autumn, Unglist (means "Young art"), the art festival of young people, has been a yearly event in the autumn in Reykjavik since 1992. The festival has gone on a week each time with a multitude of performers and spectators. The Unexpected: some new projects that have not been born jet but young people want to create in the future.
