Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

To react for the growing problems of the EU with immigration in Europe and the rising antipathy of EU citizens in relation to foreigners, Europejskie Forum Młodzieży has developed the project "YOUTH and DIVERSITY - EVS OpenMind ZONE", which very important aspect is to help young people to gain the ability to build their own opinion on diversity and problem of immigration, strongly connected with current EU policy. In today’s world media, including Internet and information transmitted through them have a very strong influence on the views and opinion of young people, usual creating a negative image of immigration in Europe as well as the EU policy in this topic. With the participation of foreign volunteers hosted in the framework of our project, we would like to, among others, help young people to better understand what is diversity, how to use media properly and not to be manipulated by them, how to build their own views and opinion independed from media, what is xenophobia and intolerance and what risks it brings, and above all to keep constant discussion with young people about information everyday coming through many media types about immigration, EU current policy and its role in today’s world. In the project we have planned 6-months EVS activities in various institutions in Poland from the Ziemia Kłodzka region and the participation of 22 volunteers from different European countries such as Romania, Spain, Slovenia, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Germany and Finland. The main goals of our project have been divided into two groups:1) The overall objectives of the project:- to support international mobility of young people and multiculturalism;- to support young people in gaining new competences in order to increase their opportunities for self-development and to increase their chances for employment in the European labor market;- to support young people from less-privileged areas, with fewer opportunities;- to increase the capacity of organizations active in the field of youth in order to offer activities that better meet the young people’s needs;- to support non-formal learning and cooperation in the field of youth with partner countries.2) The specific objectives of the project:- to broaden awareness of young people from the Ziemia Kłodzka region in the field of diversity, multiculturalism, immigration, EU policy, role and impact of media on their life;- to involve 22 young people from different countries, aged between18-30 years, in free and unpaid full-time voluntary activities in Poland;- to provide volunteers activities strongly influence on their self-development and which goal is to improve their position in the labor market by raising their key competences and skills;- to use experience gained through implementation of this project to improve the quality of youth work among partner organizations;- to equal opportunities of young people from the Ziemia Kłodzka region in becoming active European citizens by providing them possibility to contact with peers from other European countries.
