YourFilm
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Dec 31, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

YourFilm is a Baltic Sea Region focused youth initiative which is a follow-up to the 2013 project World Memory Film Project EstLat - Revolutsioon algab sinu filmiga. YourFilm 2014 exchange project fosters a sense of togetherness through raising awareness of the Baltic Sea Region's historical legacy and shared values, through running a thematic film & civic education programme with participants from Estonia, Latvia and Sweden. The project's main intent is to organise two youth exchange sessions with 30 participants between ages 15-27 from Latvia, Sweden and Estonia. The sessions engage youth with an innovative approach to history and human rights education and provide professional guidance on filmmaking. The first workshops on pre-production take place over 5 days in October and the second workshops on post-production & dissemination over 6 days in December. This includes participation at a high-level human rights conference in Tallinn as well as an award ceremony. The result of the two cross-border exchange sessions is 3 films (each max 5 min.) on the topic of human rights and human rights violations in different historical and political contexts. The subject matter of the stories may range from intercultural historical experiences to contemporary conflicts; and the stories not only reflect on the past, but also define the role of (young) citizens in the prevention of human rights violations. All the films will participate in the YourFilm contest which promotes the films through social media and recognises and awards the best groups and authors. At the end of the project the best authors are invited to the YourFilm international youth conference held in Tallinn. The envisaged results are multifaceted and related to keywords such as creating awareness, practical know-how, active citizenship and cross-border cooperation experience. The YourFilm youth exchange programme uses intercultural learning and cross-border networking methods that encourage creativity, teamwork and civic activism. By activating the youth, YourFilm strengthens sustainable development and promotes civic society by introducing Baltic Sea Region youth to a particular social issue and empowering them to take action in the field. Equally, it equips them with know-how to utilize modern communication channels, giving them instruments to act as engaged citizens and give way to lifelong learning.
