Young People - From Exclusion to Inclusion
The Young People from exclusion to inclusion network wasone of the first financed by the URBACT programme. It aimedto address some of the issues surrounding young people inEuropean cities, in particular young people of school age.The network focussed on the school as part of the communityand the role of parents in the social inclusion process.The network held a serie of exchange meetings to sharebest practice and discuss with researchers. There were2 conferences which had wider participation.The strategic objectives of the network are outlined below:1. To inform each other about examples of good practiceon how to change young peoples situation from exclusionto inclusion2. To learn and capitalise from each others examples3. To develop a strategy for how to change young peoplessituation from exclusion to inclusionEach partner was responsible for selecting a numberof examples relevant to the theme. This was carried out bysetting up a local working group within each city partner andwriting a local report. The learning and capitalisation fromthis led to the development of the 5 success criteria outlinedwithin the network final report.
