PROJECT
FINISHED
The youth exchange “Young Debate Club” held in San Cipriano Picentino (SA), from October 23 to November 2014, and its main focus was to offer a chance of confrontation and growth among the young participants, regarding the dialogue with the decision makers and the leadership as a tool for democracy, citizenship and personal growth.
The project idea came from the discussions between the administration of San Cipriano Picentino and the Youth Forum, in which the topics of debate and leadership were identified as fundamentals in shaping the young European citizen. To achieve this, the project also saw the involvement of politicians and managers from the private sector, as observers of this innovative tool of expression of the young participants’ skills.
The project also aimed to the promotion of the intellectual potential of the young people, self-expression and the development of critical thoughts, and moreover in realizing how important are the leadership skills, in the political field and in the private sector.
The partnership built with Portugal, Lithuania, Slovenia and Romania, was built to have a coherent approach to the main topic, and the organizations involved have had several experiences in projects about active participation of young people, in which they have used tools such as confrontation and debate to make young people grow in a more active way.
The activities were held according to non formal techniques which allowed the participants to be free, without invisible barriers, cultural or based on the different degrees of experience. Having to deal with meetings and debates with politicians and managers was been the platform, for the participants, to choose their field of activity in the future, which is the first step toward the job market.
