As Kocaeli International Youth Centre we want to realize the European Voluntary Service project for six months with two volunteers from foreign countries aged 20-25 The most important goal for realizing this project is like the main objective of the EVS project the development of the intercultural dialogues and acquisition of European awareness. This project also aims to improve yourself by informal education which accords with the structure of our organisation. Since three years Kocaeli International Youth Centre gets with different works and projects in contact with a lot of young people. Besides the Youth Centre organizes many regional, national and international activities with non-governmental organisations, public institutions and university clubs which are working in the youth area and are situated in Kocaeli. Kocaeli International Youth Centre takes part and hosts especially international projects and activities. Because of that the Youth Centre has decided to create a permanent international atmosphere with hosting EVS volunteers. During the activities in that Kocaeli International Youth Centre is participated or which are organised from the centre the volunteers get the chance to know Turkey from a different perspective. This is also a reason why we decided to host volunteers from foreign countries. With this perspective the volunteers get the chance to observe the negative prejudices about Turkey differently and to develop the intercultural dialogues which one of the main reasons of the EVS project. As mentioned before the Youth Centre gets in contact with a lot of young people. This feature is in matter of the EVS project a great advantage because this will be a chance for the volunteers to meet new people. For the Turkish youths it will be also a good chance to get in contact and to share experiences with the volunteers from Europe. Particularly these meetings give the Turkish youths who are not informed about the EVS project the opportunity to see a live example of the volunteering. With this example the youths will be encouraged also to take part in European projects like EVS. Within the EVS project Kocaeli International Youth Centre will host both volunteers for six months. As Kocaeli Youth Centre we aim that the volunteers will be during this time in the same position like the personnel of the centre. The volunteers who will be joined in our staff should only have high motivation to take part in our project and to get new experiences. Another aim of the Youth Centre is that the volunteers can adapt to our organisation and know their tasks during the project. Because of this we create the timetable of the volunteers so that the tasks are like the tasks of the staff. This timetable gives the volunteers the possibility to be supported in every task. The most active days of the Youth Centre are on the weekends because of that the volunteers will also have their most active days on the weekends and their free days during the week. Through this planning both volunteers can benefit from the active and efficient days of the centre. Our volunteers will get the chance to get in contact with many young people during the activities and tasks so that they can learn more about the Turkish culture. Through all this activities the volunteers can develop their communication and networking skills which will be an important point for their personal improvement.
