The project's long-term goal was to make youngsters into good leaders and activity leaders. In addition we wanted the youth to develop friendship and knowledge of young people from other countries in Northern Europe. We believe that the project Mountains & Fjords - Nordic Leader School has led young people one step further on this road by participating in seminars with these themes, communication and international understanding, how to be a good leader and why we need them, how to make a good presentation, how promote your organization and gain more members. Youngsters that attended the Mountains & Fjords - Nordic Leader School developed a good friendship through tours and activities that were conducted this week. We get feedback that this continues on Facebook and also through e-mail. The project's temporary measure was that participants should go home with increased knowledge about leadership and organizational work, the participant organizations were enhanced with the participants returning home with increased knowledge and new ideas, and that this knowledge will be used in the continuing work in their homeland. Participants had every morning a seminar related to these issues, communication and international understanding, how to be a good leader and why we need them, how to make a good presentation, how promote your organization and gain more members. In addition to the teaching from the lecturer was also much discussion and exchange of experience and practical exercises. The organizations got youngsters home with new experience and knowledge to be a leader, and with international experience. We know some of these young people are in leadership positions in their organizations, and that they have the opportunity to disseminate this knowledge to their organizations. Considering that some of the young people are in leadership positions in their organizations it is likely that the knowledge will spread further within the organization. The report booklet of Mountains & Fjords - Nordic Leader School is sent to all of the participating organizations. We planned four main themes for project week Mountains & Fjords - Nordic Leader School. These were thematic related to leadership roles, cultural similarities and differences, outdoor activities and excursions. Subject topics were communication and international understanding, how to be a good leader and why we need them, how to make a good presentation, how promote your organization and gain more members. Participants had prepared activities, games and served food from their homeland to the other participants. In this way we became familiar with their home countries and developed knowledge of the similarities and differences across borders. Games and recipes are presented in report booklet from the seminar. We conducted a variety of outdoor activities during the project week. All participants challenged themselves and tried new activities. The activities we had was: hiking on a culture trail, hiking in the forest, Frisbee golf, rock climbing, wood carving, cook on campfire, sailing, canoeing, fishing, driving an outboard motor boat, row a boat, tube and swimming. Excursions was in Bergen on departure-day sightseeing in the city center and to Fløyen. During the project week we went to Briksdalsbreen. This was a trip that made a big impression on the participants. 23 young people from Germany, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Karelia in Russia and Norway participated in the project. About 20 children from the local 4H-clubs have also been involved in parts of the project. They have met the foreign youths to present different aspects of outdoor life in their local communities and received inspiration and new ideas for activities of participants in the project week.
