The project we would like to realize is closely linked to the School Development Program and is adequate to the provisions contained in educational strategy of Tychy, which implies adaptation of vocational education to the contemporary challenges of the knowledge-based economy. The participants of the project will be young people trained to work in catering and hotel industries, teachers of catering and hotel professions and teachers of professional foreign languages.The aim of the project is acquiring the knowledge and professional skills as well as the improvement of the English language and basic vocabulary in SpanishWe predict that we will send to Tenerife 4 groups of 10 students. In every group there will be students trained to be caterers and hoteliers and we would like to send two groups of 8 teachers to Barcelona. Due to the fact that some of the students would be underage, every group will be accompanied by one teacher.Planned dates of departures for students:1st group – 10 students + 1 teacher. In the future the skills increase their chances of employment in the region, the country and abroad. In addition, we want them to become creative and enterprising, which may motivate them to start their own business.The teachers of catering and hotel professions and teachers of professional foreign languages by taking part in this project will have an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with techniques of preparing healthy Mediterranean food, they will learn marketing strategies applied in hotel and catering industries in Spain and above all they will improve the knowledge of professional language. Those issues will introduce the teachers to the practical aspect of the subjects they teach. After the project the teachers of professional foreign languages and the teachers of subjects related to catering and hotel professions will be able to work together in order to prepare lessons in a foreign language connected to preparation of Mediterranean dishes applying the rules of healthy nutrition. This combination of gastronomic lesson in a foreign language will be a form of educational innovation which we would like to introduce to our curriculum in the future.This way of organising lessons will contribute to prepare our students to take up a job in catering and hotel industries within European market, both in terms of their professional and language skills. This will also motivate them to acquire general knowledge (correlation among subjects). There will a be a team of people responsible for managing the project. All participants of the project will receive support in a form of additional English and Spanish language courses. Students will take part in meetings with guidance counsellor in order to learn how to adopt to new conditions and work under pressure of time.Receiving organisations will make a written partnership agreement which will include schedule for students and training syllabus for teachers. Tickets, insurance and transfer from the airport will be bought. The whole project (all groups) will be monitored by the receiving organisations, head teachers and, in case of students’ groups, accompanying teachers. After the end of the project, it will be evaluated, what in consequence will provide information about achievement of project aims and tips for further work and future projects.
