Having considered students’ expectations to make lessons more attractive, our teaching staff have decided to participate in the Erasmus+ Programme KA 1 Mobility of individuals in order to support teachers’ professional development with a view to innovating and improving the quality of teaching.There will be 11 participants involved in the programme, including 4 teachers of English, 3 teachers of German, a teacher of geography, history, a school psychologist and the school principal.The main objective of the project is to develop teachers’ knowledge, skills, competences and qualifications, search for innovative methods and teaching tools enhancing students’ motivation and active involvement in the learning process, and finally contribute to school development. Teachers’ participation in methodology workshops will result in increasing their willingness to take new initiatives and face new challenges.One of the focus areas of professional development courses is ICT. We hope the competences acquired there will facilitate making better use of new technologies in class, applying more effective methods motivating students as well as finding new alternatives to traditional ways of teaching, which will make our students benefit from implementing new measures and ideas. Thanks to participation in mobility programme our teachers will learn how to make use of e-learning to teach various subjects, as a supplement to traditional ways of teaching. Furthermore, using teleconference system we hope to enable students with disabilities to participate in extracurricular educational courses. Making effective use of ICT in teaching will help to achieve educational objectives but will also improve the level of key competences of young people as well as promote participation in democratic life in Europe, active citizenship and equip them for the competitive European labour market. Therefore, it will strengthen the position of our school, attract more students and positively affect the enrollment process in the future.Foreign language teachers aim to gain knowledge about new tools and methods of teaching as well as to increase their linguistic competences. Testing their skills in real life communication will allow them to reach beyond school routine and develop new professional skills, which they will use working with students preparing for school final exams at extended level. Two teachers of German will participate in a language and methodology course in Austria. Apart from refreshing methodology they wish to observe what ordinary people’s life is like in Austria. They hope to make use of that experience organising competitions for students from our town and county schools and cooperating with the Polish-Austrian Society Youth Club in Łowicz.Considering the fact that our school organises integrated teaching and promotes inclusion of students with physical disabilities and special educational needs in classroom environment, we have specialists who support such students and accompany them in the classroom to facilitate education also in a foreign language class. Sharing experiences and observing their colleagues abroad will help them find new effective methods in this area. Thus, an English teacher who is also a specialist in integration and inclusive education will participate in a course on teaching students with special educational needs and two other specialists will participate in an English and German language courses.Knowledge of foreign languages is essential also for other teachers. Lack of linguistic competence makes them unwilling to incorporate various sources of information into teaching, whereas numerous teaching resources available in English could inspire them to make classes more attractive for students and arise interest in the subject. After participating in CLIL training courses teachers of history and geography will be able to modify their syllabuses adding topics on the European Union and organise extracurricular activities in English. A geography teacher will use her language skills carrying out an international programme The GLOBE and will be able to communicate with other participants.Participation in the mobility programme will also aim to prepare teachers to take part in another Erasmus+ action, Strategic Partnerships involving mobility of students. This will contribute to European dimension of our school and strengthen its position among other educational institutions in our region. In order to achieve this two teachers will participate in Erasmus+ project management courses which will allow them to meet potential partners and establish international cooperation.Finally, the school principal will also participate in the Erasmus+ programme, as she will be involved in students’ mobility programme in the future so knowledge of English will enable her to participate actively in meetings with foreign partners. The linguistic competence will also allow her to attend courses on school management.
