WORKAS - Workbased Care Sector Training Across Europe
The WORKAS project aims to increase the skills and competencies of employees working in care homes, which are often women with low or no qualifications. The project will design and validate a flexible, ICT-based 'training of trainers programme' in order to contribute to overcoming barriers to lifelong learning (working patterns, remote access) and further expects to have a multiplier effect on other employees considering or undergoing continuing learning. The end products will be the ICT-based outline, training programme for trainers/assessors, to be made available on paper, CD-Rom & DVD, plus a final project report presenting the results of the pilot evaluation. Training materials will be initially developed in DE & ES but will be piloted with care home employees across all participating countries. Evaluation will be undertaken by stakeholder representatives with results influencing the final training programme. National award bodies will be contacted, with accreditation also being addressed during the project lifetime. The partnership aims to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of investing in work-based training, in the care sector, whether homes are managed by the public, private or non-profit sector organisations. Partners will enlist the support of Social Partners, Chambers of Commerce and European professional associations to promote the end project results.
