Work Based Learning for Vocational Occupation Students 2
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is the result of contact with Italian and German partners realized during the implementation of the LDV VETPRO mobility project FATAL (2013-1-HR1-LEO03-03068) from January 2014 and Erasmus+ VOCOS project (2014-1-HR1-KA102-000240) conducted in October and November 2014. Due to positive results, examples of good practice and outcomes from previous projects, this project represents its continuation. Also, thanks to the spread of positive results and outcomes, Obrtnička škola has expressed interest for training of its students and occupations that have not participated in previous projects. Due to lack of jobs in Požega students don’t have opportunity to perform professional practice, and they want to develop their skills in the real sector. Project participants were students of the following occupations: fashion/clothing technician, tailor, cook, tourist-hotel commercialist, architectural technician, bricklayer, carpenter and painter-decorator. The aim of this project was acquiring of new and improving of existing vocational skills, development of language, inter-cultural and international skills through professional practice/training abroad in order to increase employability, professional development of participants, to make easier transition from school to the labour market. According to the school curriculum, crucial lack of Obrtnička škola and the need for participation in this project was to increase students' success by acquiring new and improvement of existing vocational skills, which can be realized through participation and implementation of professional practice in the real sector. Also, the lack of space required for practical training is one of the major disadvantages in the school, so it was beneficial and important to include in mobility those students who do not have opportunities to practice at school and to work with modern technologies. Also, students got international experience and knowledge and the possibility of introducing foreign system of VET. The project engaged students from textile, construction, wood and hospitality sectors. For students of textile and hospitality sector and their professional practice partners Istituto Ruzza and Tecna from Italy were responsible, and for construction and wood sector institution KWVD from Germany. Total number of participants was 32. Mobility was carried out in two flows. Firstly, students participated in mobility in Italy, and secondly in mobility in Germany. Each mobility lasted two weeks, and was conducted in February and March 2016. In each mobility participated students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades. The primary focus of the project was the final year students, because of the upcomming transition to the labour market and gaining new experiences to facilitate this transitional period. Mobility improved students’ knowledge in their profession; they will learn about regulations and professional standards abroad, technologies and tools which encouraged affirmative approach to assignment and encouraged their further development. In project participated also 5 accompanying teachers who were involved in all the preparatory activities of the project. Together with the coordinator they were responsible for selection of project participants, they disseminated the information about the project among other students and colleagues, they prepared students to implement the project in terms of getting acquainted with the cultural differences, rules of behaviour during practice and free time. During mobility, accompanying teachers followed the students, their progress, helped them, recorded their achievements and knowledge, and upon return with students wrote project reports, disseminated project results in school and beyond. Outcomes which arose from professional training of students were: gained theoretical and practical knowledge of occupations involved in the project, gained work obligations, motivated students for acquiring other forms of education in their occupations, 32 students who will transfer their knowledge and experience to other students and teachers to encourage them to take part in similar projects, learning about new technologies and techniques that are being developed, inspire students to be creative in learning and working by applying of innovative methods. Project activities were in line with Europe 2020 and The Bruges Communiqué 2011-2020 strategy as it ensures the mobility of students in VET and linking education with the labour market; as it supports learning by doing, internationalization and strengthening of the cooperation of all participants in VET, promotion of VET,exchange of good practices to strengthen the institutions participating in the project.
