PROJECT
FINISHED
TThis project aims to make it easier for refugees to access higher education. In order to achieve this aim, we need to focus on adult education institutions, which undertake important work in terms of determining competences, qualifications and providing guidance before people start studying, as well as on universities and universities of applied sciences, which can cooperate with adult education institutions to shape access and transition to university. The four partner organisations in the consortium are adult education organisations that operate at the boundary to institutions of tertiary education, cooperating with universities: VNB in Germany with the Open University of Lower Saxony, uniT in Austria with the University of Graz and FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences as well as CARDET and CESIE with their local universities in Palermo and Nicosia. The project aims to facilitate the sharing of good practice in this area; each of the five partners has something to offer here - in times of both their own work, and their regional and national environment:VNB: own work (competence checks, qualification, guidance) in AMIF, the Open University of Lower Saxony and Kiron University.uniT: own work, which has a particular focus on creative and artistic work in the study spaces (guidance, competence portfolios), Austrian universities’ project for refugees and asylum seekers (More) and the work at FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences.CESIE: Creative and artistic approach to their own work in mentoring, competence checks, qualifications and guidance. Cooperation projects with the University of PalermoCARDET: Expertise in e-learning with own projects; cooperation projects with the University of NicosiaVIFIN: Expertise in designing online language courses. Vifin also cooperates with Vejle Municipality, Danish Universities and companies for a SMART U (http://smart-u.dk/), where we make it possible for municipal employees and residents to take an online university degree or training course. The results of the study laboratories - study visits to see good practice projects, combined with discussions of projects at home organisations - are integrated into the work of the consortium partners and distributed to important stakeholders both in the vicinity and further afield. We hope that the project as a whole will prompt further cooperations and initiatives in this area - including on a political and administrative level.
