We Clown: I can, you can
We Clown: I can, you can
Start date: Jun 1, 2008,
he multilateral exchange "WE CLOWN: I CAN, YOU CAN!" was be held in Tortona (Piedmont, Italy) from July 7th till July 16th (2008) and involved 5 countries (Italy, Belgium, Denmark, France and Ireland). Each group consisted of 9 participants aged between 15 and 18, each hosted nation will have 1 leader, while the hosting and coordinating organization will have 3.
The main theme of this exchange was the Intercultural Dialogue (European priority for 2008) reached through the figure of the clown, which is in all countries and in every historical moments.
Our clown was seen as a way to break down the wall of stereotypes and as a character able to transform a difficult and unpleasant situation in a happy one. We followed a path that took us to the "construction" of different types of personal clowns, which fostered communication beyond language, with the help of gestures, colours and games.
Through workshops and laboratories, we tried to use different tools to enhance communication and to overcome any linguistic, cultural and emotional barriers. We believe that these resources are important for the non-formal education method that used in this exchange.
The clown became our symbol of intercultural communicator, a "mosaic" just as Europe, made up of various nations (infinite shades) linked together against prejudice and discrimination.
The project was organized within the promotional program of the New Youth Centre of Tortona.
