PROJECT
FINISHED
The “Piccolo Principe” is a multiple social cooperative that offers personal services to the person and working integration. We are committed, from more than 25 years, to promoting social integration and employment of disadvantaged people, in caring for children having family situations with multiple problems, in promoting the culture of acceptance and solidarity, in the promotion of “critical thinking" (a non-passive acceptance of a thought) and in the promotion of fair and ethical trade.
"Il Piccolo Principe" Social Cooperative proposes a project to accomodate for two volunteers for a service period of 8 months in Casarsa della Delizia (PN), Italy. In particular the project will involve a volunteer which comes from spanish organisation called “AIPC Pandora” and the other from Slovakia organisation called “Keric”. These volunteers will be placed beside the educators and the operators, based on their attitudes, interest and expectations of learning, for 35 hours per week in activities with children, young people and disabled persons that risk social exclusion and marginalization or to live on the fringes of society. The principal objective of this project is to enable the volunteers to experiment in different contexts and with different kinds of users, in order to increase their sense of tolerance and understanding towards differences and situations of disadvantage (our services: “Educational Service for minor children” and the “Social and occupational centre for disabled”) and to actively contribute to generate a self-criticism conscience, sharing ideas and information on themes of worldwide globalization and promotion of values of fair trade (our services: “Youth Project” and the “Solidarity Shop and fair trade”). We believe that the intercultural exchange allows promotion of social integration and the active involvement of the young generation in the European society.
We believe that volunteers should demonstrate:
- The desire to experiment in a context and a different culture to increase their wealth of experience
- Basic communication skills and interpersonal
- The willingness to interact and exchange with the project manager and tutor in order to better enjoy the experience
- Seriousness and openness to different perspectives that may emerge.
- An interest in the policy areas and proposals for specific activities
During the service, the volunteers will be followed constantly by the tutor, with regard to aspects of the service, and mentor, for all the personal support and language. Meetings will be scheduled to run periodic monitoring and verification. In addition the volunteers could assist the educators in planning and managing the single activities and participate in meetings of the team, where they could take part in moments of comparison or supervision in according to the requirements of the different services.
Further, this project intends to offer the volunteers the possibility to experiment their own capabilities, to learn new abilities or valorize those that are already in their possess, to test themselves with a new language and to come in contact with other cultures and will be able to take part in the process of informal learning. In addition the volunteers could assist the educators in planning and managing the single activities and participate in meetings of the team, where they could take part in moments of comparison or supervision in according to the requirements of the different services.
We believe that the project will lead to a very positive impact on both the volunteers who participate on both the young people and the local community they come from and where will return at the conclusion , that in the one that welcomes them for a long time. The volunteers, in contact with new experiences, attitudes , new behaviors , and in some cases different from those who are accustomed to live, can increase self-confidence , acquire and cultivate skills, competences and knowledge contributing to their personal development , social and professional. The project will be an opportunity for non-formal learning and informal learning, with special attention to solidarity.
The volunteers will be involved in services already rooted in the area and this will promote the visibility of the project and to involve the local community. The cooperative takes care of more than 5000 users ( most of them are young people who adhere to the proposals of the centers of aggregation and guys she meets in the paths in schools) , this allows us to guarantee a significant impact of the project at local level.
