We Are the Citizens of MUSIC

"We‘re the Citizens of MUSIC" will be held between 10/05/2015-18/05/2015. During these days project participants will prepare and perform in International Street Music Day. The idea of the festival – anyone who wishes, can come out into the streets and play some music. This way festival is raising creativeness and sociality. In addition to that, the main goal of the project is to encourage young people active citizenship by involving them in city’s cultural activities. Also this project will encourage and motivate street musicians to improve, and become professional musicians. Most important it will promote freedom of expression and gather different countries musicians to create music together. Objectives of the project are: - To foster mutual understanding, raise the awareness of cultural diversity between young people from 7 different countries through art and culture and achieve cultural dialogue between them through turning them in a process of planning and preparing performances and activities in public places in front of big audience during the music festival "International Street Music Day" in a capital city of Lithuania, Vilnius. - Create a network of cities and organizations organizing “International Street Music Day” in different countries to promote this event. - Promote active citizenship and social involvement of young people and involve them, give an opportunity to be a part of cultural activities occurring in the city. - To create new ideas and tools for following up and developing existing/future projects through combining cultural and musical experiences; "We‘re the citizens of MUSIC" will involve 36 participants from Armenia, Italy, Estonia, Georgia, Lithuania and Ukraine. All project members will be different type of musicians, who like to perform and create music. Also these people are active citizens in their country and they want to be a part of the biggest street musicians festival in the world. Main activities of the project will be: organized jam session, which will help all musicians to improve musical skills, create new sophisticated compositions and develop new improvisational skills; creative presentation of ISMD, which ensure better understanding of street performers situation in Lithuania and Europe; workshop of multipart singing, it will inspire participants to change view of folk music and find new ways to listen to this genre; workshop of making creative instruments for ISMD ‘Drum Together’ performance, which will stimulate participants’ imagination also help to improve creativity, innovation skills and raise active citizenship; finally performance in front of audience and participation during ISMD‘ 2015.
