Overall objectives of the action are protection of water quality and ecosystems of the Upper-Tisa Region, and improvement of quality of life of inhabitants concerned. Overall objectives include strengthening of good relationship between Hungary and Ukraine.Specific objectives of the action are assessment of pollution, planning and development of a monitoring system by which expansion of contamination can be followed. Elaboration of a remediation plan and elimination of hazardous materials stored on site are also among the specific objectives.Main activities:1. Survey of the site (historical, geodetic, hydrogeological)2. Installation of the monitoring system3. Assessment and monitoring of pollution (preliminary, detailed, horizontal, vertical assessment, sampling, laboratory analysis)4. Modelling, risk assessment5. Elimination of polluting substances from the area6. Planning remediation activities and land-use concept 7. Visibility / PR actions Expected Results: Operate the groundwater monitoring system and follow changes in extension of polluted area.Remediation plan, providing a base for future construction of the remediation system and implementation of remediation actions.Improvement of existing transboundary cooperation between regional environmental organisations of Zakarpatia (Ukraine) and Sz-Sz-B County (Hungary)
