"Wake Up Sotavento!" was a Youth Exchange mainly focused on urban and street art and culture. We pretended to: create a new cultural atmosphere through the help of local communities; promote urban and street art at a local, regional, national and European level; foster cultural and artistic awareness amongst young people; share experiences and exchange ideas concerning art and culture between artists and young citizens. The dissemination of the concepts of street and urban art through intercultural dialogue helped us to achieve international attention and involved other stakeholders in order to create a multiplier effect. One of our main aims is that our results can be used in other contexts and helped citizens to stop stereotyping local artists in order to promote a close relationship between these two actors in society. Our activities were: music concerts; art exhibitions and contests; theatre play; movie night. We used non formal education by facilitating group dynamics, lectures, workshops. The APV occured during three days from the 25th of Nov. to the 27th of November 2014 and the youth exchange tooks place during seven days from the 25th February to the 3rd of March 2015 in Monte Gordo, Vila Real de Santo António (Algarve region, Portugal) and it had a total of 35 participants (youngsters from 18 to 25 years old, with the exception of group leaders that have no no age limit).
