The project will takes place over 10 days in the centre of An Charraig Eden, Greystones and in the town of Greystones itself. The theme of the project is Article 38 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child: the right to protection and freedom from war and the protection of children under 15 from forced armed combat. The project will include groups from Ireland (Iraq, Afghanistan, Ireland, Rwanda and Somalia), the Uk, Italy and Spain totalling 25 participants. The key focus of the project is to achieve the following objectives:" To allow the young people to develop the skills to discuss, debate, learn, and critically engage on topics around interculturalism and values;" To allow the young people to develop knowledge on the topics such as conflict, human rights, inter-religious dialogue and interculturalism. " To allow the young people to develop positive attitudes towards people of other religious, cultural or ethnic background and regarding human rights;" To allow the young people to develop on an interpersonal level through the development of communication skills, conflict resolution skills, decision making skills and cooperative skills;" To allow the local community to develop a greater relationship and understanding with people of different cultures, religions and ethnicities.This will all be achieved through a combination of non formal learning and experiential learning method-based workshops, tangential learning approaches, voluntary participation in action projects and community activities, peer-led activities and the day-to-day informal learning of the entire project.
