Voyages des volcans d'Auvergne vers l'Europe
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jun 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Teachers of the first degree in a school of 155 students aged between 3 and 10, in a village with a population of 1200, we have found that our students are not performing well in the practice of spoken English. In addition, our students are not shown the difference and openness of Europe, due to living in such a rural area. A recent experiment by a teacher at the school who used the ICT to develop the teaching of English, via an exchange with a class from Finland, has prompted the education team to develop a European project, to develop and improve the teaching of English, rooted in a European dimension. The Mobility project is part of a school project (for the 2014/2015 school year), in which the teaching staff wishes to set up an interactive school correspondence in each class, with a class from the EU. This is based on the experience of a class that is already involved, with the help and support of e-Twinning. Three teachers of the institution in charge of the young students learning English, are eager to carry the project and share what they’ve learnt, also wishing to benefit from a 2 week period in London. The SILC organisation became our preferred partner for the duration of the project. The expected benefits of this mobility (linguistic, methodological and cultural) are that it will impact students’ results, increase the skills of all teachers in the school, increase teamwork, and improve relationships with school partners. The implementation of such a project will increase the efficiency, dynamism and creativity within the team, and open our school to European culture. In the long term, the teachers hope to develop a taste for the communication of English to their students, and help make them true European citizens, tolerant and respectful of our differences. The correspondence can be followed in the coming years and expanded to new countries.
