“Voting’s Not Enough” is an 11-month long project centered around a training course targeting youth workers specializing in the areas of political participation and immigration. The aim of the course is to provide the participants with an environment of non-formal mutual learning for supporting their professional development in facilitating the democratic participation of youth, especially the immigrant youth. The project will bring together 7 youth organizations from France, Hungary, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy and Turkey, and will train 21 youth workers.
The training course will consist of three parts. All mobilities will take place in Marseille, France, and will be organized by Pistes Solidaires Méditerranée.
A1. TRAINING COURSE PART I
7 participants will attend this study visit, that is 1 participant from each of the 7 organizations. The participants will realize peer-training among themselves on nonformal education methods and the use of these methods while working with youth workers for the purpose of increasing youth participation in policy making.
A2. TRAINING COURSE PART II
21 youth workers will attend this study visit, that is 3 participants from each of the 7 organizations. The training course will cover the following subjects: what is “youth participation” and why is it necessary; why include youth in decision-making processes; involvement of youth in decision making processes of youth organizations; different forms of youth participation; theoretical approaches to youth participation; youth participation in national law and international law; best practices of youth participation; immigrant youth and youth participation; discussions with guest speakers.
A3. TRAINING COURSE PART III
21 youth workers will attend this study visit, that is 3 participants from each of the 7 organizations. The major learning outcome of training course part III will be writing of policy recommendations for national and international-level policy makers.
ACTIVITIES AT LOCAL LEVEL
In addition to the 3 international mobility activities covering trainings and workshops, the project will also include field activities at the local level such as meetings with (i) local and immigrant youth, (ii) local youth NGOs, as well as (iii) local and/or regional authorities. The first-hand information collected from the field will be used for developing national and international level policy recommendations. There will also be dissemination activities at the end of the project.
DELIVERABLES
The gains from the training will be delivered as:
- Policy Recommendations to the States of Europe for Increasing Participation of Local and Immigrant Youth in Policy Making (to be prepared collectively in English by all participants)
- Policy Recommendations to [the states of the partners] for Increasing Participation of Local and Immigrant Youth in Policy Making (each organization to prepare one version in their own language)
- 3 activity reports to be prepared after each mobility
- 1 final project report
BENEFICIARIES
At the end of the project there will be :
- Trainings to 21 youth workers from 7 youth organizations in 7 countries
- Meetings with 105 youth in 7 countries, at least 50 of whom will be immigrants
- 7 meetings with the local authorities in 7 countries
- 7 meetings with 70 youth workers to discuss policy recommendations
- 7 information/dissemination meetings in 7 countries with general public
