Volunteers For Tolerance
Start date: May 1, 2008,

With this group EVS project, we give impulse to the participation of the less opportunity youth in the EVS program. In this project 12 youth organizations joined together to create an intercultural learning opportunity for young people who normally do not have the possibility to participate in EVS. Based on the experience of an exchange 'Peace in Youth' with the post conflict countries, we want to implement this method and the approach in group EVS project and we will bring together less-opportunity youth from post conflict countries. The aim of the project is for young people (mostly from less-opportunity backgrounds) to realize a life time experience in a foreign country while meeting with different cultures and cooperating during their voluntary work for 21 days. This opportunity will also provide volunteers to understand what the experience of EVS is and interest them to go for a long-term EVS project in the future. During these 3 weeks, volunteers will have an opportunity to realize a voluntary project on their subjects of interest, such as environmental care, youth work, elderly house projects and kinder garden projects, which will have impact on the local community. After getting the introduction about Dutch culture and behavior, the volunteers will have the chance to explore Holland and to cooperate with Dutch volunteers in the voluntary work field. As an outcome of their 3 weeks EVS, the volunteers will make a short movie about their voluntary work, to make the Youth in Action Program visible in a wide area.
