Volunteers for Solidarity and Inclusion is a project that consists of a longterm European Voluntary Service activity, involving 2 young volunteers from Austria, as well as 2 youth organizations, Jugendinfo NOE, that will act as sending and coordinating organisation in this project and K.A.NE. Social Youth Development from Greece that will act as hosting organization. The young volunteers will be hosted in Kalamata, Greece, for a period of 12 months.The idea of this project is to create a sharing space and to implement different events and activities, where young volunteers, together with local volunteers and staff of Civil Society organisations in Kalamata will share ideas and opinions, have a constructive dialogue around the issues described above and work together to promote solidarity, social inclusion, tolerance, volunteerism and the important role that youth work can play for the development of young people and the empowerment of young people, especially of young people with fewer opportunities.The volunteers will help reinforce the network of civil society organizations in the city of Kalamata and the surrounding region and support the creation of civil society activities in which many CSOs, local stakeholders and individuals will participate together. This will allow for a better collaboration between different stakeholders, the promotion of active participation, as well as for the promotion of the importance of Youth Work and Youth work activities.The tasks the volunteers will undertake may include:- Supporting the preparation and implementation of different activities and events in the city of Kalamata- Exchange ideas and offer their view and opinions- Create their own activities- Participate in visits in schools for the promotion of active participation, volunteerism and the presentation of the ERASMUS+ programme and the opportunities it offers to young people- Documenting the activities (photos, videos)- Promoting the activities and values of the project, by creating videos, writing articles for the blog, the website and the newsletter, making the volunteers’ photo album- Promoting EVS in the youth of Kalamata, through the regular “EVS cafes” and interviews in the local radio- Preparation and running the “info point” for local youngsters, which mainly gives information about European mobility projects, as well as about opportunities to work and study abroad.- Realization of other activities of the organization like workshops, dance courses, environmental excursions etc. - Creation of other educational activities.- Taking of initiatives and proposing to the organization and the local youngsters new projects, fresh ideas etc.- Development of other projects for social, environmental and cultural cause. - Assisting in language workshops for children coming from families with low economical background.- Assisting future EVS Greek volunteers with language lessons and language practice workshops as well as preparing them about what to expectThe tasks are carefully designed in order by using a series of formal, non-formal and informal learning methods and activities, to allow the volunteers to have the best possible learning outcomes and to develop skills, as well as to provide an intercultural/international dimension to local activities and allow for capacity building and strengthened collaborations between different stakeholders at local as well as international level.The project is expected to have a major impact to the young volunteers, the organizations involved as well as the target groups, enhancing both their learning and their capacity as well as raising awareness on important European values, such as solidarity, collaboration, volunteerism, active citizenship, etc. The impact of this project, though the dissemination of the projects results and promotion of its activities throughout the project, will reach youth organizations and individuals all around Europe, extending the “message” that this project wants to pass at local, national and international levels and fostering further collaborations between European youth organizations.
