For the project " Volunteers 4 Visibility" the two organisations SCI (Belgium) and SCI-D (Germany) work together. One volunteer wil be sent by SCI-D to volunteer in Antwerp, Belgium for the duration of 12 months, where it will hosted by SCI. The two organisations work together to increase cooperation within the SCI network, especially in the field of information and communication. As described in the SCI Strategic Plan 2011-2014 there is a need for more and better promotion of voluntary services that promote peace and intercultural understanding in Europe in order to reach more young people and awaken their interest in becoming volunteers. The project aims at visualising voluntary projects by using modern media and communication tools. The voluntary project become more concrete to the general audience and in that way the message of volunteering for peace and intercultural understanding will reach more young people in Europe and beyond. The EVS volunteer will have the following activities: collecting testimonies from volunteers as well as videos and pictures by pro-actively approaching SCI branches and partners and talking to volunteers; updating websites and social media; assisting in the preparation of international volunteer meetings and trainings and report about it on social media; preparing paper publications such as brochures and reports; support the organisation of the annual information and a promotion event to 'launch' the new workcamp- season. All these activities aim at increased visibility of voluntary projects and activities, but more importantly it aims at giving individual volunteers the opportunity to tell their stories and receive international recognition for their valuable contributions to building a culture of peace and intercultural understanding in Europe and worldwide. For the EVS volunteer this project is an opportunity to learn about the world of international volunteering, meet interesting people and acquire new skills.
